A Colombo Plan scholar, he graduated from Glagow University, Scotland, U.K in 1974. He served his National Service full-time for 2 years at the Singapore Armed Forces Provost Unit's Dog Unit after graduation. Education continued using vaccination cards. During consultation, many puppy owners (adults and children) have little knowledge on how to use the housing bought from the pet shop. There was a need for an instruction manual. How did Singapore pet owners toilet train their puppies? Over 150 new puppy owners were interviewed during consultation in 2004 and 2005.
