Toilet Training Your First Puppy in Singapore

Mini Maltese with severe tear staining. Female, 14 weeks old.
Paper trained 14 days.

1. Homemaker focused on training.
2. When puppy sniffs, circle, quickly bring to the playpen newspapers. Clean area.
3. Change newspapers every 2 hours during day time. At night, put fresh newspapers.
4. Sleep in playpen at night.
50% bare floor (puppy prefers floor), 50% newspapers. Feed 2x/day. Water bottle.
Normally poop on one corner and pees on another corner with newspapers.
5. If outside playpen, accidents, clean area thoroughly with floor cleaners to remove smell of pee and poop.
6. Poop 3-4 x/day. Pees many times.

Successful paper training in 2 weeks because she focuses on training and observation of signs, removal of smells from floor.

With full-time training and knowledge, success in paper-training around 7-14 days in my survey of over 300 Singapore puppy owners in 2004 - 2006.
